During this Free Webinar You Will Learn:
Premature infants routinely experience invasive oral procedures that may have a negative impact on oral sensory and oral motor function. The Milk Drop Research Project resulted in the most significant decrease in length of stay and improved feeding outcomes being seen in the smallest and most fragile of infants. These are the same infants who are at highest risk of oral aversion.
Learning Objectives:
- List two negative impacts on feeding development caused by procedures such as taping, intubation, suctioning, and oral care.
- List one major developmental reason why premature infants are at increased risk when they receive negative oral experiences.
